What is Dengue Haemmorhagic Fever ?
Dengue haemmorhagic fever is an infectious disease caused by Dengue virus Which is transmitted by mosquito’s bite (Aedes aegepty and Aedes Albopictus). Because of its malignancy it can cause death.
Where is Aedes Aegepty’s breeding site ?
Aedes aegepty’s eeg and larva life in clean water container around our surroundings like : Bathroom, waterjar, bird’s drinking pot, vase, bottle, used tire, used can, damage water drainage, etc.
What is Dengue Haemmorhagic Fever’s Signs/ symptoms ?
- Fever for 2 until 7 days
- Fatigue and lethargic
- Petechie ( red dot on skin)
- Epigastric pain.
- Epistaxis ( bleeding on nose or subcutis)
- Hematemesis (bleeding Vomit), Melena( bleeding on feses)
- In serious condition Patient’s hand and foot becomes cold and sweaty. This condition is so dangerous if not treat soon.
What must we do?
1. If the symptoms is present :
- Drink as much as possible.
- Compress patient with cold water
- Treat with antipyretic e.g Paracetamol.
- Take patient to the nearest clinic or hospital.
2. How to wipe out Aedes Aegepty’s larva and avoid mosquito’s bite?
- Clean all water container and change the water once a week.
- Close all water container’s top to prevent mosquito enter the container
- Bury all used stuff which can retain rain water e.g used can, bottle, plastic, coconut shell etc.
- Spread larvacid powder 2-3 times a month in water container which is difficult to clean
- Keep Larva eater fish.
- Use reppelant lotion or arrange gauze wire on window / ventilation to prevent mosquito’s bite.
